How Does High Carb Fat Loss Work?

Okay, before you get overly excited about feasting on carbs, it’s probably best to reveal that we are talking about whole foods here, and not the refined crap that many of us love to eat, such as fries, pizza, sugar-ladened desserts, etc.

You’re not going to get away with eating whatever carbs you want.

However, eating the right types of carbs is definitely on the menu.

In fact, inside the course you’ll learn how the body actually rarely stores carbs as body fat to any significant degree, which goes against much of what we learn from low-carb, high-fat diets like keto.

Basically, the vast majority of the fat that we see on our body comes from the fats we eat (makes sense I guess).

What Did I Think of High Carb Low Fat?

Firstly, I have known of Rusty Moore for a number of years, and I like the material that he produces.

In fact, his blog and various programs (which always until now focused on the fitness and training aspect of health) pretty much mirrored my beliefs around training.

I’m not your typical “meathead”, I’m certainly not about getting as big as possible, and I mainly focus on producing a lean, muscular body that is fully functional.

So, you could say that I was already a fan of Rusty’s.

Secondly, I’m no longer someone who believes that cutting carbs is the ideal way to lose weight and burn fat.

As I’ve mentioned, I followed the Atkins diet for a while back in the day, but it certainly wasn’t something I stuck with for too long.

I’ll even admit that I have occasionally cut-out bread for a few weeks because I wish to flatten my stomach.

However, I knew that it wasn’t so much bread that was the issue, but rather the type of bread I was consuming.

Conversely, I often increased my bread intake when I was looking to bulk up.

With that said, even though I shouldn’t and I know it’s wrong, I am a lover of refined carbs.

Basically, the wrong type of carbs. Although I have learned to live with these in moderation now.

Therefore, many of the principles that are discussed in the High Carb Fat Loss Course certainly resonated with me, and I often found myself smiling and nodding my head in complete agreement.

This is not to say that I don’t understand the merits of a low-carb, high-fat diet in terms of weight and fat loss, and even Rusty and Mark agree that this type of diet can work to help you achieve your body composition goals.

However, as I’ve said many times before, this type of diet is not sustainable in the long-run.

Additionally, while low-carb, high fat may help you to lose weight, it can wreak havoc with your metabolism.

Realistically, if you want to keep fat off your body and produce an awesome looking physique then lean muscle mass and a high metabolic rate are essential.

I was a little perturbed by some of what I read, and even saw members in the Facebook group discussing the fact that they were losing weight while still eating 350-550g of carbs a day (this is approximately 1,400-2,200 calories a day just in carbs).

I like to keep my carb content at around 250-300g a day, but my fat intake is higher than what the course suggests, as is my protein consumption.

I’m just not into restricting certain food groups, even if it is dietary fats.

With that said, I know many ancient societies have thrived on high-carb, low-fat diets (then again there are also certain societies that have done just as well by eating low-carb, high fat).

Their diet is typically low in calories, protein and fats, while being exceptionally high in carbs.

Their macronutrient split is around 85% carbs, 9% protein, 6% fat (with 2% coming from saturated fats).

Japan has the highest life expectancy of any country in the world, 84 for men and 90 for women, but the life expectancy is even greater on Okinawa (one of the Ryukyu islands).

In fact, there are more than 400 centenarians in Okinawa, and it is believed that their diet and cuisine is the main factor for this amazing life expectancy.

Unfortunately, the life expectancy in Okinawa has steadily decreased since the turn of the millennium, and one of the overriding reasons for this is westernization (in terms of diet and way of life).

As you can see there is certainly much truth and benefit in following a high-carb, low-fat diet in terms of your health and longevity.

    A High Carb Fat Loss course sounds yummy, to say the least. Having battled through Keto diets of late, not to mention the earlier diets of all sorts, I think a diet with carbs sounds good.
    For those who wish to lose weight, literally, anything goes. I sure feel motivated to try this system, except that $37 is a bit steep.

      I’m not particularly a fan diets per se, especially the low-carb, high-fat craze (such as keto) of the last decade or two. I just think restricting an entire food group can’t be healthy in the long-run, plus these types of diets don’t do the metabolism any good, and a high metabolic rate is essential for anyone looking to lose weight.

      My initial thoughts were that the progam was slightly expensive, although this is is my first “diet-based” product review. Some additional research shows that the price is actually comparable to other similar products in the marketplace, but the High-Carb Fat Loss Course appears to offer far more value.

    Ok, now that I have that off my chest, I have a seizure disorder and diabetes, so this is definitely not the plan for me. I’ve been prescribed a plant-based Keto diet to be honest, but when I saw the title I had to check this out. It looks interesting, and if it works for people that’s fantastic. Particularly since the Keto and Paleo style diets can also make your wallet a lot thinner. The fact that they charge extra for the exercise plan is pretty typical, but it still sucks.

    I usually stick to the exercise posts on your site, but I’ll have to start checking out some of the other diet reviews you have. If you can point me to your favorite Keto or Paleo plan I would really appreciate it.

      Great to hear from you.

      I’ll let you into a little secret – I still love the refined crap and will “cheat” at least once a week (occasionally more, LOL).

      Firstly, I will say that if you have been prescribed a particular diet by a medical professional then I in no way recommend altering it, but I guess you know that already.

      In truth, I’m not a huge fan of Paleo or Keto, but in terms of the fact that I don’t think they’re a sustainable way of eating in the long run. There’s no real research into the effects of these diets over say 40, 50, 60 years, etc. although as I’ve mentioned above, there are societies that have thrived on high-fat diets.

      To me, high-fat, whether it’s considered “good” or “bad” fat will eventually have some effect on the heart.

      I also think in terms of weight loss it reminds me a lot of jogging – it does the trick initially (for the first month or two), then the body adapts, and then your weight loss plateaus. Both methods (again in terms of weight loss) don’t have any positive effects on the metabolism, which can’t be good.

      Additonally, there is research (and this is discussed in detail inside the course), it is typically the combination of too many fats with carbs that can cause insulin resistance and diabetes.

      With that said, I have created this site to be an “all-rounder” and that includes reviewing products and programs that “I’m not a fan of as well”.

      So, for now I haven’t looked into any Paleo or Keto plans, but in the interest of fairness and being objective I will very soon, so watch this space.

      However, you’ll probably have to put up with me throwing my personal opinion in every few minutes, and stating how I don’t like these types of diets, LOL.
