What is The Minimalist Exercise and Nutrition Program?

The Minimalist Exercise and Nutrition Program provides 4 weeks of strength training and interval training workouts. The idea is to reduce your time in the gym while increasing the effectiveness of your workouts. You will also be introduced to the minimum number of guiding principles for nutrition, which is based on eating nutrition-dense foods in order to eliminate food cravings.

Who is the Face Behind The Minimalist Exercise and Nutrition Program?

The creator of The Minimalist Exercise and Nutrition Program is Carolyn Hansen.

Carolyn has over 30 years of exercise, health and fitness experience.

Her “love” for exercise first started back in the 1980s, although Carolyn admits she became a “Jazzercise Junkie”.

Basically, this was a time when aerobics and cardio classes were all the rage.

Carolyn dedicated the next 10 years of her life to cardio.

She even became a Jazzercise class instructor during this time.

However, after a decade of “pure cardio” Carolyn realised that she hadn’t achieved the lean and energetic body she was hoping for.

In fact, if anything she had become plumper with each passing year.

And at the same time she had literally starved herself during this period in the hope of the dream body

Carolyn’s focus shifted from cardio classes to the gym.

She studied the workouts of the old-time bodybuilders.

Carolyn realised that these men and women looked fantastic.

And yet they spent less time exercising, and typically ate two to three times as much as the average person.

A new love was born.

Carolyn started her own regime of strength training and HIIT cardio workouts.

And as her physique developed she even took part in bodybuilding competitions herself.

Carolyn is now the owner of her own gym and has helped literally thousands of people to become strong, fit, and youthful, irrespective of their age.

What Carolyn has learned over the years forms the basis of The Minimalist Exercise and Nutrition Program.

How Does The Minimalist Exercise and Nutrition Program Work?

The Minimalist Exercise and Nutrition Program is based on strength training and interval training workouts.

The word “minimalist” is focused around performing a small set of core exercise, while spending as little time as possible in the gym.

This is about producing maximum results from your workouts in the least amount of time.

The Minimalist Exercise and Nutrition Program provides a 4-week workout program.

The strength training aspect focuses on the principle of increasing your metabolism in order to kick your fat-burning potential into high gear.

When coupled with short HIIT workouts you can expect to produce a lean, toned body and have boundless amounts of energy.

As for the nutrition part of The Minimalist Exercise and Nutrition Program, this is not about calorie restriction or minimizing what you eat.

Basically, you’ll be introduced to a few basic principles to follow, which will ensure that you eat well, but still maintain the ideal physique.

You will be eating nutrient-dense foods that literally stop your cravings and will also help to keep your metabolism at a high rate.

There are 10 Minimalist Eating Principles.

If you follow these principles you’ll no longer be a slave to emotional eating.

Plus, the foods you will be eating will help you carve out a lean physique when partnered with the workouts.

Carolyn introduces you to the foods you should be eating and those you should be avoiding.

Additionally, you discover the green smoothies that Carolyn has every morning for breakfast.

The smoothies kick her metabolism into gear and she is literally burning fat from the minute she gets out of bed.

What Did I Think of The Minimalist Exercise and Nutrition Program?

Dumbbells Racked in the Gym

The basic premise of The Minimalist Exercise and Nutrition Program is extremely sound.

For anyone struggling with their weight, or unable to achieve their ideal body, you have everything you’ll need to achieve success inside the program.

In truth, attaining your desired body is simple in principle.

And this is what Carolyn alludes to inside the program.

Basically, most of us have a way of complicating matters, or being extremely hard on ourselves.

Unfortunately, this will never help you to achieve your body composition goals.

You can exercise all the hours in the day and starve yourself as much as you like, but your body will generally “fight back”.

This is typically done by holding onto body fat.

However, if you “keep it simple” you’ll start to notice things happening.

I completely agree that a mixture of basic strength training, HIIT cardio, and eating nutrient-dense foods is pretty much all you need.

If you perform the big compound lifts regularly, you don’t need to be resistance training for much more than 2-3 hours a week.

HIIT cardio 2-3 times a week for 20-30 minutes at a time will suffice.

Plus, eating whole, nutritious foods will help you feel full, thus avoiding cravings.

And this is pretty much what you’ll learn from The Minimalist Exercise and Nutrition Program.

Obviously Carolyn goes into far more detail.

But, this is the proven formula for success.

Was There Anything I Didn’t Like?

All-in-all, The Minimalist Exercise and Nutrition Program is a decent program, and it will help you achieve a fit, strong and healthy body.

That being said, I didn’t like the fact that there were no instructional videos included with the program.

Admittedly, the workouts are based around the most basic exercises, but still it’s nice to see demonstrations, especially if you’re a beginner.

To be completely honest, I have recently reviewed Get Lean: Permanent Physique Transformation by Josh Hewett.

The program is more focused on fat-burning, but covers much the same principles.

The main workouts are Metabolic Resistance Training rather than pure strength training.

However, Josh also covers HIIT.

Additionally, he goes into far more detail about the mindset required.

And Josh’s program provides links to video demonstrations and covers you for 12 weeks worth of training.

Plus, Get Lean only costs $15, so less than half the price of The Minimalist Exercise and Nutrition Program.

So, realistically even though I liked The Minimalist Exercise and Nutrition Program, I would always recommend Get Lean ahead of it.

That being said, if you follow what you learn in The Minimalist Exercise and Nutrition Program you will achieve your goals.

Product Pros.

  • Carolyn has a proven track record in the Health and Wellness industry.
  • The workout and nutrition principles are the exact ones that Carolyn follows with great success.
  • The Minimalist Exercise and Nutrition Program follows a proven method to help you achieve your body composition goals.
  • I like the fact that Carolyn has a whole bonus section that tackles the required mindset.
  • The Minimalist Exercise and Nutrition Program does come with a 60-day money back guarantee.

Product Cons.

  • There are no follow-along video demonstrations of the exercises and workouts.
  • You will require access to a gym or weights at the very least to complete the workouts.
  • I personally feel that Josh Hewett’s “Get Lean” program covers the same principles in much more detail and costs less than half the price.

Final Thoughts

I will say that I like The Minimalist Exercise and Nutrition Program and it will definitely work.

Let’s just say I’m not blown away by the program.

I much prefer Josh Hewett’s Get Lean program.

That being said, if you want to get strong, fit, healthy, and have bundles of time and energy, then The Minimalist Exercise and Nutrition Program will help you to achieve this.
